Early Years is the bedrock of education - a unique short timespan where the brain is most malleable, and language is best acquired. At Bloom World Academy we support children in their transition in their first school years and ensure learning is a positive experience by:
- Establishing positive learning habits
- Delivering age-appropriate high-quality experiences
- Providing caring and supportive environments
- Nurturing health and emotional well-being
- Fostering a global mindset
We start an educational journey that lasts a lifetime. Evidence tells us that if we get it right in the early years, we can expect to see children thrive throughout school and beyond throughout their adult lives.
A Welcoming Community
It is important to us that our families feel a sense of community and belonging from their first day at the School. We foster this sentiment by ensuring that our channels of communication are always open. From our special open school events, our planned welcome activities for children, meetings with parents, performances and open classrooms, we strive to ensure parents feel connected with their child’s school life.
The Seven Areas of Learning
To bring the learning and development of the youngest students together, Bloom World Academy uses the English Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework. This approach very much ensures that learning takes place in a rigorous and developmentally appropriate way. In the EYFS framework there are seven areas of learning:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Communication and Language
- Physical Development
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts & Design
Early English Acquisition
An holistic, fully immersive English language learning environment ensures that our students acquire English naturally and enjoy a smooth transition into Junior School.
Early Mastery of Literacy and Numeracy
At Bloom World Academy, we firmly believe that the Early Years is the foundation for all future learning. We deliver a balance of deliberate teaching and spontaneous learning. As well as the direct teaching of key skills, students have opportunities to learn through exploration, with teachers supporting them and extending their learning.
Our specialist Early Years teachers provide opportunities for students to work in small groups and develop key early learning skills in reading, writing and mathematics in a fun, age-appropriate way. This ensures students achieve well in these areas later in their school life.
A Love of Learning
Our teachers know each of their students very well as individuals and plan learning opportunities which follow their students’ interests to ensure high levels of motivation and engagement.
Our specially designed Early Years Centre, Primo, promotes creativity, problem solving and physical development both indoors and outdoors. Specialist teaching in music, outdoor learning and physical education enhances the broad Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum on offer.
Real Life Learning
Students develop the necessary skills to work both independently and collaboratively in a range of ways. Carefully planned authentic experiences provide students with skills they will use throughout their lives.
Well-being at the Heart of Provision
The personal, social and emotional development of our students is at the heart of everything we do. A child who feels secure and happy at school is a child who is open to opportunities for learning. At Bloom World Academy we understand that children need to be taught to recognise and talk about their emotions from a young age, allowing them to grow and thrive.
